Shawn Loving is chef and owner of Loving Spoonful in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Fresh out of the culinary program at Schoolcraft Community College in 1991 , Shawn began his culinary journey.  He started out at as a night chef at Les Auteurs under Chef Keith Famie before deciding to join the Disney Corporation in 1992.  There he created and executed the openings of three new restaurants.   The results of his efforts were so successful, he was asked to become part of a culinary task force responsible for turning around food operations at EuroDisney in Marne deValee, France.  In 1995, Shawn returned to the United States where he was appointed Executive Chef of Race Rock restaurant in Orlando, Florida.

In 2001, Shawn returned to his roots in the Detroit Area and fulfilled his dream by opening Loving Spoonful in Farmington Hills.  One food critic described Loving Spoonful as serving “unabashedly American food in an upscale, yet comfortable fashion. ”  Chef Loving has created a simple, yet complex menu for anyone to enjoy with regional accents from the New South, the Midwest, the Gulf Coast and California.  His strong belief in “ Cuisine from the Heart ” permeates every aspect of his food preparation and presentation.

In just a short period of time, Shawn has earned acclaim from his customers and his peers.  He has proven to be a rising star with a reputation that extends beyond the Detroit Metro area.  To illustrate, in 2002 Shawn was named the recipient of the Lawrence P. Doss Entrepreneur of the Year Award.  In addition, Schoolcraft College has created the Essence of Excellence Award in his name that is presented to an outstanding graduating student each year.

Shawn is a Certified Executive Chef through the American Culinary Federation.  He has collected an array of awards and medals in food preparation competitions.  His local celebrity status makes him a favorite for various cooking demonstrations and private catering.  Recent honors include preparing food for various Def Jam recording artists and also cooking for professional athletes as they make their stops in Detroit.

In his spare time, Shawn serves on the faculty of Schoolcraft College.  He also participates in various charity events throughout the year, including preparing Christmas Eve dinner for residents of Michigan's largest temporary shelter agencies.
